FAQs

How far are we from the airport and town?

We are 50 minutes from the airport (SJD).  We are about 20 minutes to the largest grocery stores in Cabo and the Diamante Golf Resort.  To our north, Todos Santos is about 15 minutes away.  At Cerritos Beach, surfing and sport fishing are about 10 minutes away. Also, the highway has just been widened to 4-lanes so travel is easy and safe.

What is the best way to get around?

We suggest you rent a car as the cost of taxi's generally exceed the cost of a rental car.

Any nearby restaurants or bars?

The closest restaurants are in Pescadero, about 10 minutes north of us, towards Todos Santos.  One in particular, Carlito's, is as fabulous as you will find anywhere in the world.  (Check it out on TripAdvisor) There is also a great gringo bar called the Sand Bar in Pescadero.  Todos Santos has at least a dozen great restaurants, equal in quality and half the price of Cabo restaurants.

Any other nearby activities?

Yes!  Please see our Activities page for more info.

Can we swim from the beach?

Of course, although we always suggest you watch the tides and currents, just as you would at any beach.  For those younger and perhaps weaker swimmers we suggest Cerritos beach, just a few minutes away, which is more protected.

What is the weather like?

You can’t really find that info online as the airport in San Jose del Cabo is the only official weather station and our weather is quite different.  Basically, from the middle of October thru the end of July we are mid to high 70’s during the day and high 50’s to low 60’s at night.  We also have a pretty steady breeze which keeps things perfect. August starts to heat up, with highs in the low to mid 80’s and lows in the mid 70’s.  Then September gets here and it’s hot—90’s day and night.  That’s also our hurricane and rainy season.  And speaking of rain, during the other 11 months of the year, we may get a total of 4 or 5 days of light rain, and never two days in a row of rain.

Are there any private chef's available?

We do offer an "All Inclusive" package (see the following page) or can arrange a chef for fewer nights.

What about Safety?

First, our entire estate is totally fenced and gated, plus our owner/property manager will be nearby in our casita just outside the main gate.  So, you will always have someone close by to assist with anything, from arranging tours and reservations, to fishing, shopping and golf.

Should you have any emergency medical needs, excellent medical facilities are nearby.

Is Whale Watching nearby?

The whale-watching from The Beach is so spectacular that it deserves another mention.  Each year thousands of Gray Whales migrate from Alaska to the Sea of Cortez.  Due to our geographic location, and the way the Baja peninsula angles NW to SE, the whales come closer to land in front of us than anywhere else along the entire Pacific coast.  Between November and March, we commonly see 30 or more whales a day from our patio, often within 40 yards of the beach as they come in close to scrape barnacles off their bellies on the sandy bottom.  When they breech or tail-slap, they are often so close that not only can you see them, but hear them as well.

In addition to whales, we also see porpoise playing in the waves, manta-rays jumping and sea lions right from our back yard.  All in all, it's simply unforgettable!

Can we have our wedding at The Beach?

Absolutely!  We've held many weddings here, from very formal affairs to shorts and sandals on the beach.  We can also assist you in finding nearby homes to rent for your wedding party, and can cater up to 100 people for receptions and parties.

What about proximity to town?

Well, it depends on what you are looking for:

For groceries, there are three main grocery stores in Cabo; Soriana, Mega and Chedraui. Those are on the highway toward us and are about 20-25 minutes away.  Costco is 35 minutes.

Looking for golf?  We are between 30 and 40 minutes to all the main golf courses, and we can arrange tee times for you.

Interested in shopping? Again, it depends on what you are looking for, but shopping in Cabo is pretty much directed toward cruise ship passengers. Looking for something more unique, or art, then Todos Santos is the place. From our home, Todos Santos is less than 20 minutes.

Surfing and boogie-boarding? Cerritos is the prime spot in all of Baja, and it's 10 minutes away from us.

Surf fishing? The best surf fishing year-round is on the Pacific side, from Migrino to Cerritos. So, if you want to surf fish you just walk down the steps to our beach and you're in the prime spot.

Strolling on a secluded beach? The beaches in Cabo itself share beaches with huge hotels. That means beach vendors bugging you all day long. Here, you usually don't see another soul for miles.

Offshore fishing? If you want a big charter boat, Cabo is the place and we are 35 minutes to the marina. If you're interested in a more 'local' experience, we fish from pangas launched from the beach about 15 minutes from here.
